Columbian downs NOL pair

GALION -- Columbian claimed five of the first nine spots and went on to win a triangular meet at Galion's Amann Park Tuesday.

It was the second visit to Amann Park in four days.

Columbian, which was sixth in the 26-team Galion Invite Saturday, won the triangular with 26 points while Galion was second with 50 and Bellevue was third with 56.

Derek Brown led the Tornadoes with a runner-up finish in 16:57, trailing Bellevue sophomore Raymond Bibb, who won in 16:48.

Dan Moyer was third for Columbian, 5-3 overall, in 17:02 while Jason Gurney was fifth in 17:29, Jeremiah Glick was eighth in 17:44 and Andrew Greene was ninth in 17:53.

Also, Sam Moyer was 12th in 18:17, Mike Cooley was 13th in 18:20, Greg Trumble 14th in 18:28, Sam Glick 15th in 18:33 and Ryan Hinke 16th in 18:47.

"The team was able to meet one of their goals tonight with our top five runners under 18 minutes," said Columbian head coach Craig Snyder. "Gurney ran a very good race and had a PR. He had a 36-second drop from last Saturday."

 

Upper Sandusky wins tri-meet

NORWALK -- Upper Sandusky boys and girls swept a triangular meet Tuesday.

The Rams finished with 24 points in the boys meet while Bucyrus was second with 40 and Norwalk trailed with 65. In the girls meet, Upper Sandusky had 20 while Bucyrus had 35 and Norwalk didn't have enough runners for a team score.

Aaron Lambert led the way in the boys race as the Upper Sandusky junior won in 17:45. Kent Collins was second for the Rams with 18:17 while Alex Hollinshead was fourth with 18:25, Rich Smith was seventh in 19:05 and Matt Young was ninth in 19:15. Chris Webster was also 13th in 19:58 and Tony Smith was 24th in 22:42.

Mike Skaggs was second overall to lead Bucyrus with 18:01 and Dustin Stauffer was fifth in 18:47. Brian Lodermeier led Norwalk in sixth place with 19:03.

Patricia Morris of Bucyrus was the individual winner in the girls meet with 20:46, but the Rams took the next five spots with Amy Oehlers second in 21:54, Kim Swinehart third in 22:00, Kelly Amesquita fourth in 22:55, Emily Herring fifth in 23:03 and Laura Bowman sixth in 23:47.

The Rams also had Darcy McCarthy 12th in 25:34, Sara McWilliams 13th in 25:43 and Ashlee Braham 14th in 26:07.

 

Lakota splits with SLL pair

ELMORE -- Lakota boys and girls split with Genoa and Woodmore in a triangular meet at Well Park Tuesday.

The Lakota boys (7-2) defeated Genoa, 24-31, and lost to Woodmore, 20-37.

Montana Garcia of Woodmore claimed individual honors in 17:13 while Josh Graber led Lakota in fifth place with 18:02 while Will Windom was seventh in 18:16, Ben Schroeder was eighth in 18:26, Troy Halfhill was ninth in 18:36 and Clay Capell was 17th in 19:22.

Also, the Raiders had Nate Weller in 18th with 19:22, Matt Shultz was 21st in 21:08, Josh Nye was 24th in 22:13 and Nicolas Camarata was 26th in 22:31.

Woodmore's Kathy Camp was the top individual in the girls race with 19:54.

Jessica Rupright was eighth for Lakota (4-4) with 22:17 while Michelle Hudak was ninth in 22:18, Kathy Vykopal was 11th in 22:21, Heather Hill was 14th in 23:02 and Tia Tucker was 18th in 24:04. Also, Jessica Allen was 21st in 25:13.
