Mohawk splits tri-match

BUCYRUS -- Mohawk demolished Plymouth in the third game of a 17-15, 4-15, 15-1 win over the Big Red to salvage a split in a tri-match.

Before the Plymouth match, the Warriors fell to Wynford, 15-2, 15-5. Mohawk will take a 7-6 record into Carey tonight for a Midland Athletic League match.

"Wynford's got an excellent team, but we didn't give them much of a challenge at all," Mohawk coach Hope Boes said. "We've come a long way towards being a better team, but we're still working at it and tonight wasn't one of our better showings."

Megan Martin had 14 points and 17 assist to lead the Warrior efforts. Jamie Amory (eight kills) scored nine points and Katie Weininger (13 assists, four kills) added eight. Jackie Hilborn had four kills to go with six blocks, Amber Schwochow hit home five blocks and eight kills, and Carrie Bloom chipped in three kills and four blocks.
