St. Wendelin boys, girls second at Riverdale Invite

MOUNT BLANCHARD &emdash; St. Wendelin boys and girls grabbed runner-up honors Tuesday at the Riverdale Cross Country Invitational.

The Mohawks trailed Liberty-Benton in both divisions.

Liberty-Benton won the boys meet with 53 points while St. Wendelin had 67, Columbus Grove had 81 and Carey had 86.

Mohawk's Aaron Roush grabbed individual honors in 17:06 while Andrew Boehm of Cory-Rawson was second in 17:29 and Chad Irwin of Columbus Grove was third in 17:31.

Carey's Josh Courtad was fifth in 17:41 while Mohawk's Derek Weaver was sixth in 17:52, Josh Souder of St. Wendelin was seventh in 17:58 and Carey's A.J. Kessler took eighth in 18:04.

Jeff Urbanski was 15th for St. Wendelin in 18:49 while Josh Prince was 17th in 18:56, Bryan Williams was 18th in 18:58 and Nick Shultz was 21st in 19:08. Also, Andrew Huber was 25th in 19:22 and Andy Bulkowski was 28th in 19:40.

Carey also had Matt Hempfling in 13th place with 18:24 while Eric Hanna was 35th in 20:47, Adam Clauss was 38th in 21:09 and Alan Beck was 41st in 22:35.

Mohawk, with only four runners and five are needed for a team score, also had Mark Buckingham in 19th in 19:03 and Adam Arnold was 23rd in 19:10.

Liberty-Benton girls finished with 43 points while St. Wendelin was second in 52, Pandora-Gilboa was third with 59, Mohawk followed with 109 and Carey was seventh with 163.

Pandora-Gilboa swept the top two places with Sarah Eubank first in 19:49 and Kinsy Miller was four seconds back.

Jolene Faeth was third for St. Wendelin with 21:30 while Audra Reinhard was fourth in 21:37, Jenni Yost was 11th in 22:06, Randi Jo Wireman took 15th in 22:37 and Jackie Bouillon was 19th in 23:21. Also, Sara Dotson was 24th in 23:48 and Sybil Wireman was 34th in 24:23.

Abby Ward led Mohawk with sixth in 21:51 while Emily Ruffing was 17th in 22:56, Megan Ruffing was 20th in 23:26, Julie Goshe was 29th in 24:01 and Jodi Calmes was 37th in 24:38. Also, Brandi Weininger was 42nd in 25:56 and Amanda Lust was 44th in 26:21.

Laura Breitigam was eighth for Carey in 21:56 while Alicia Derr was 23rd in 23:40, Cassandra Pieracini was 41st in 25:24, Heidi Pieracini 45th in 26:34 and Rachel Beck was 46th in 26:59.

Columbian sweeps Bucyrus

Columbian boys and girls posted lopsided wins over Bucyrus at Hedges-Boyer Park Tuesday.

The Tornadoes won the boys meet, 18-45, and the girls also prevailed, 20-42.

Dan Moyer led the TC boys with first place in 17:43 while Derek Brown was second in 18:02.

Bucyrus had the third-place finisher in Mike Skaggs with 18:15, but the Tornadoes swept the next five spots with Andrew Greene fourth in 18:19, Mike Cooley was fifth in 18:59, Sam Glick was sixth in 19:01, Ryan Hinke was seventh in 19:13 and Greg Trumble eighth in 19:15.

Patricia Morris took individual honors for Bucyrus in the girls race with a 21:06 with Columbian sophomore Kathy Scott just eight seconds off the pace at 21:14.

The Tornadoes nabbed the next five spots with Kelly Behm third in 23:39, Kelly Babcock fourth in 24:01, Ryan Delacruz fifth in 24:17, Krista Bird sixth in 24:37 and Heidi Babcock seventh in 24:45.

Also, Columbian had Laura Bartlett ninth in 26:13 and Steph Glick was 10th in 26:45.

Fostoria falls to GLL duo

FOSTORIA &emdash; Fostoria girls fell in a pair of dual meets with Great Lakes League foes Tuesday.

Toledo Whitmer edged the Redmen, 27-28, and Findlay also downed Fostoria, 23-32.

Sophomore Dee Dee Depp led the Redmen with a third-place finish in 21:11. Whitmer's Aydrea Feudi won in 20:55 while Katie Huffman of Findlay was second in 21:04.

Erika Heiser was seventh for the Redmen in 21:49 while Chelsea Zoll was eighth in 21:50, Sandy Frisch was 13th in 22:55 and Tiffany Swartz was 14th in 22:57. Also, Natalie Chambers was 18th in 23:15 and Sara Frisch was 24th in 24:43.

Upper Sandusky second in tri-meet

UPPER SANDUSKY &emdash; Upper Sandusky took runner-up honors in a triangular meet with Galion and Willard Tuesday.

The Rams had 43 points in the boys meet to trail Galion (26) and Willard was third with 54. In the girls meet, Willard prevailed with 29 while Upper Sandusky was second with 40 and Galion was third with 55.

Kent Collins was runner-up for the Rams in the boys meet with 18:47, trailing only Galion's Mike Randolph who won in 18:00.

Alex Hollanshead was fourth for the Rams in 19:02 while Rich Smith was seventh in 19:38, Matt Young was 13th in 20:37 and Mark Herring was 17th in 20:58. Also, Chris Webster was 18th in 21:07 and Parker Mosman was 26th in 22:58.

Galion's Jessica Strickler won the girls race in 21:39 while Willard's Nikki Buurma was second in 21:56.

Amy Oehlers was third for Upper Sandusky with 22:03 while Laura Bowman was eighth for the Rams in 23:20, Kim Swinehart took 10th in 23:32, Kelly Amesquita was 13th in 23:42 and Darcy McCarthy was 18th in 25:58. Also, Ashlee Ersham was 24th in 28:14 and Sarah McWilliams was 25th in 28:17.
