Calvert looks for lucky 13

There are just two unbeaten and state-ranked teams left in Division VI high school football &emdash; and they'll meet in the state semi-finals.

Top-ranked Delphos St. John (12-0) and 4th-ranked Calvert (12-0) will square off against each other Friday night 7:30 p.m. at Findlay's Donnell Stadium. The other semi-final will feature Lancaster Fisher Catholic (10-2) against Cuyahoga Heights (11-1) at Arlin Field in Mansfield.

The winners will meet at 3:30, December 4th, for the state championship at Canton's Fawcett Stadium.

St. John had their first big test of the season in the regional championship game with Midwest Athletic Conference rival St. Henry. The Blue Jays trailed 6-3 at the half before pulling off a 17-13 win. Calvert meanwhile shutdown the high powered Gibsonburg offense in a 21-0 shutout.

The game will feature the top two players in the Northwest District in Calvert signal caller Nate Keller and Blue Jay tailback Chad Schulte. Both shared Player of the Year honors.
