Foster and Wise both win twice in Columbian loss to Colonel Crawford
NORTH ROBINSON -- Zach Foster and Anthony Wise both swam to a pair of individual wins in Columbian's 53-39 loss Thursday to Colonel Crawford.
Foster captured the 200 freestyle (1:52.64) and 400 free (5:18.66) while Wise took the 100 butterfly (1:04.86) and 100 backstroke (1:07.92).
The Tornadoes also claimed second in all three relays.
Wise swam Greg Trumble, David Cantley and Jon Seeberger in the 200 medley relay (2:01.64). Foster, Cantley, Brett Kuhn and David Wahl competed on the 200 free relay (1:41.69). Wahl, Wise, Kuhn and Foster were on the 400 free relay (3:48.72).
Cantley added seconds in the 200 IM (2:31.94) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.22), Wahl took second in the 100 free (55.55) and third in the 50 free (24.94), Kuhn was third in the 200 IM (2:36.95), Trumble claimed third in the 100 back (1:09.72), Seeberger finished third in the 100 fly (1:21.65) and the 200 free relay team (1:41.69) of Trumble, Sal Laparo, Ryan Allarding and Seeberger finished third.
Columbian's girls picked up a win from freshman Allison Dore in the 200 free (2:22.9) and the 200 free relay team (2:03.03) in a 70-23 loss.
Janet Black, Michelle Brashares, Dore and Emily Graham swam on the 200 relay team.
Graham added a second in the 100 free (1:06.85) and the 400 free relay team (4:39.85) of Meryl Baker, Black, Dore and Graham also ended up second.
Thirds for the Tornadoes came from Black in the 200 IM (2:58.22), Graham in the 50 free (30.12), Dore in the 100 fly (1:20.26), Carrie Smith in the 400 free (8:10.93), Brashares in the 100 back (1:23.98), Baker in the 100 breast (1:33.83) and the 200 medley relay (2:31.54) of Baker, Black, Brashares and Smith.
"All in all, the team is improving with each meet," coach Nick Weber said. "They are starting to do the little things that will help them at the end of the season, which is good to see."
Jessica Ewald swam to victory in two individual events and helped a relay take another win as Calvert's girls also fell to Colonel Crawford 63-27.
Ewald gained her wins in the 200 freestyle (2:16.63) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.9) while helping Anna Feasel, Sarah Haines and Sarah Schumm claim the 200 free relay (2:01.53).
The same foursome finished second in the 200 medley relay (2:17.11).
Feasel added runner-up finishes in the 200 IM (2:59.15) and 100 backstroke (1:15.38) and Haines took second in the 100 free (1:10.69) and third in the 50 free (30.99).
For Calvert's boys, Chris Johnson touched in first in the 200 IM (2:10.56) and 100 fly (57.82) while Zach Firestone won the 400 free (6:51.94) and claimed third in the 200 free (2:29.98).
