Walsh takes two from Dragons
NORTH CANTON -- Walsh swept an American Mideast Conference doubleheader from Tiffin Thursday, limiting the Dragons to just one hit after the second inning in the opening game on the way to a 5-2 win before holding on for a 4-3 victory in the nightcap.
Tiffin (11-21 overall, 4-10 AMC) started the first game well, with Josh Curry singling home Sean Cannon for a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Cannon and Kipp Huntsberger both singled before Curry stepped to the plate.
The Dragons added their second run in the second inning when Ryan Rammell doubled, moved to third on Francisco Ortiz's single and scored on a fielder's choice by Drew Cowburn.
But that was all the offense Tiffin would get, registering just one hit after that in the game. Aaron Ward took the loss.
Brent Bowman, Cannon and Zack King led the Dragons in the second game.
Brown smacked a homer, Cannon singled twice and scored and King ripped two singles.
Curry belted a double and Sergio Cintron, Nick McCalla and Huntsberger all singled. Ryan Despinet suffered the loss.
"We just didn't do enough good things today to win the game," TU coach Lonny Allen said. "We really didn't play that bad, we just didn't enough to win."
The Dragons travel to Cedarville Saturday.
