Seneca County Pony League Championship

Tiffin St. Joseph wrapped up a perfect year by rolling past New Riegel 14-to win the Seneca County Pony League Tournament title. St. Joseph won the regular season title with a 16-0 before winning all seven of its tournament games to end with a 23-0 mark. Michael Martorana led St. Joseph with two doubles and two singles, Zack Hawkins singled three times, Troy Keller doubled twice, Shawn Deats doubled and singled, Brooks Arbogast lined a triple and single, Corey DeBarbrie and Nick Mullennex both doubled and Cory Holzhauser singled. Deats and Michael Harvey combined to fan 10 and allow just two hits. Other team members are Kyle Frank, Peter Guzowski, Scott Perry, Kyle Racette, Erik Smith and Kyle Sours.

 

Blanchard Valley Tournament

Tiffin Eagles

Dustin Ritchie blasted a home run and hit two singles to lead Tiffin Eagles to a 12-4 win over Findlay Lunn Drywall. Anthony Theis hit a double and two singles, Ryan Keefe singled three times, Jeff Warner legged out a triple and singled, Justin Sauber lined two singles, Ben Stover doubled and Dan Breyman and Cory Hess both singled. Ritchie picked up the pitching win.

 

Tiffin Babe Ruth

Winning pitcher Zac Ball, Justin Baker and Chad Tyree all drove in four runs to help Moose double up VFW 26-13. Ball hit a single, Baker singled twice and Tyree doubled. Wade Bogard's three singles and double chased in two runs, Jim Picciuto brought in two runs wiht a two singles and a double, Shane Weiter chased in two and singled and Ryan Page added a single and RBI. VFW's Tyler Young and Nate Sexton both brought in three runs and singled. Dave Meisner's two singles accounted for two runs, Trae Marks drove in two runs with two doubles and a single, Jeremy Smith doubled and singled for an RBI, Richard Chwalik had a double and RBI, Bill Behl had a single and RBI and Chris Sexton singled.

* The Tiffin Babe Ruth All-Star 15-year-old team will play in the Babe Ruth Baseball 15-Year-Old State Tournament in Zanesville. Tiffin's first game is Saturday at 4 p.m. Team members are Jeremy Smith, Trae Marks, Richard Chwalik, Aaron Everhart, Jim Picciuoto, Chad Tyree, Wade Bogard, Scott Ardner, Alex Banks, Rick Donaldson, Richie Gilbert, Cory Hess, Chris Hall, Jaime Dull and C.J. Kisabeth. The coaches are Clint Wheeler, Bob Huffman and Nate Bryant.

 

E League

The Orioles had more hits, but the Indians scored two in the bottom of the fourth and survived a sixth inning rally to win the Tiffin E League regular season title 4-2 in the third game of the best of three series. The Indians broke a 1-all tie with a run in the third and got two more in the fourth. The Orioles narrowed to to 4-2 in the sixth, but the Indians held on for the win. Derek Arbogast smashed a triple for the Indians and earned the save. Aaron Gassner doubled and Aaron Rider, Jacob Turner and Zach Gase all singled. Gassner and Rider also pitched. The Orioles, who won the first game of the series 12-0 before falling 8-7 in the second, were led by Aaron Hurd's double and single. Alex Gase and Josiah Greenwald both hit two singles and Willard McDole and Craig Gibson each singled. Members of the Indians were Rider, Gassner, Zach Gase, Taylor Gase, Derek Arbogast, Rush Arbogast, Jerrica Carpenter, Jacob Turner, Chase Turner, Mitch Therriault, Cody Semen, Landon Warnement, Martin Fonseca, Matt Fonseca and Joe Scherger. Tim Gassner, Joe Turner and Dan Scherger coach the Indians.

 

E League Tournament

The Dodgers pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth force extra innings, then scored a run in the seventh to upend the Reds 8-7 in the semifinals of the Tiffin E League Tournament. The Reds pounded out six runs in the top of the third for a 7-1 lead, but the Dodgers scored single runs in the third and fourth before getting three in the fifth and tying the game in the sixth.Robert Graber-Zito drove in three runs, including the game-winner, with three singles. Jerad Elchart brought in two runs and singled, Kyle Snavely singled twice and had an RBI, Aaron Ritzler lined a double and single and winning pitcher Zach Seislove had a single and RBI. The Reds were topped by Cassie Shuff and Keith Bernard both driving in two runs with a triple and single. Jake Peacock had a double and RBI, Kyle Saxton and Dylan Burns both had a single and RBI, David Hoyda doubled and Eric Zirger singled.

* The Dodgers won a topsy-turvy 6-5 game over the Yankees Tuesday, tying the game 4-all with three runs in the bottom of the fourth before getting two more in the sixth for the come-from-behind tournament win. Winning pitcher Cory Sigler singled twice and had the game-winning RBI on the way to driving in two. Robert Graber-Zito smashed a solo homer, triple and single, Zach Seislove's two singles brought in two runs, Kyle Snavely chased in a run with a triple and double and McKinley Armstrong singled. Taylor Glidden belted a solo homer for the Yankees, Jared Kuhlman's two singles chased home two runs, Scott Stephens had a double and RBI, Jordan Lange added a single and RBI and Chris Fredrick singled twice.

* The Mets broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the fourth, then held on to beat the Cubs 3-2. Winning pitcher Pat Woodman helped his own cause with two singles whlie Ryan Dell tripled for the Mets and Tyler Wis and Aaron Smith both singled. Chris Krupp's two singles topped the Cubs' effort. Adam Bour, Drew Krupp, Robert Swartz and Trey Tyree all singled.

 

D League Tournament Championship

American Standard exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the third on the way to doubling up Fort Ball 10-5 for the D League Tournament championship. Winning pitcher Korey Conley smacked two doubles and a single for American Standard. Derek Burns added a triple and Ryan McCory, Josh Allen and Nathan Mathias all singled. Fort Ball got two singles apiece from Mark Dornauer and Garrett Krouse and a single each from Kevin Layer and Ryan Garhis.

 

Softball

Sen-San-Wyan Junior Tournament

Bloomville slipped by Sycamore II by a 3-2 margin. Chelsea Hushour doubled and singled for Bloomville, Ashley Stansberry singled twice and Megan Florence and Chrissy Martin both singled. Sycamore's Taylor Fillmore, Chelsea Cooper, Abby Boes and Erica Mick each lined a single. Brittany Sheward, Emily Zellers and Florence all pitched for Bloomville. Bloomville will meet Bascom in the tournament semifinals today, Friday, in McCutchenville at 6 p.m.
