Seneca Aquatic Klub competes in triathlon

A group of nine athletes from the Seneca Aquatic Klub spent last weekend in Cleveland competing in the Rock and Roll Youth Triathlon.

Saturday's event was divided into different age groups. SAK had kids in three of these divisions.

Spencer Merry, Toria Felton and Laura Wahl went head-to-head with other 7- and 8-year-olds. Athletes in this group swam 100 meters, rode their bikes one mile and ran 0.6 of a mile.

Wahl turned in the best showing among SAK competitors, finishing second (11:01). Merry came in fourth (11:48.10) and Felton ended up in fifth place (12:47.30).

Eleven to 14-year-old competitors endured a slightly tougher competition. They swam 200 meters, peddled their bikes 2.5 miles and ran a mile.

Bobby English finished with a time of 18:01.50 among athletes 11- and 12-years-old, the best among the SAK entries. Alyssa Felton, Rachel Wahl, Nicole Martien and Tyler Merry also endured the triathlon.

David Wahl was the only Aquatic Klub triathlete in the 13- to 14-year-old division. His time of 15:16.80 proved fast enough to earn him a third place finish.

The SAK triathles are used to a longer, more grueling course. They ran their annual triathlon July 11, going 400 meters in the water, bicycling 5.6 miles and running 1.5 miles.
