Four Bobcats shoot 41 in win over Emmanuel Baptist

BETTSVILLE &emdash; The good news for Emmanuel Baptist was that one of its players tied for medalist honors Tuesday during a dual with Bettsville at Nature Trails Golf Course.

The bad news was that all four Bettsville scorers did the same.

Joey Kizer, Jeremy Schumm, Jon Rollins and Nick Baker all shot 41 for the Bobcats (2-0).

Donald Lawrence's 44 and Courtney Dayton's 60 didn't figure in the team score.

Emanuel Baptist (2-2) got a 41 from Dan Sandy, a 42 from Drew Flamm, a 43 from Tim Murphy and a 46 from Ramsey Wellman.

Tornadoes finish between Redmen

The Columbian golf team finished in the middle of a tri-meet with Bellevue and Bucyrus.

The Tornadoes shot 168 to Bucyrus' 171. Bellevue totaled 160.

Mike Everhart led Columbian with a 39. Chris Meyer fired a 41, Donny Thompson 43 and Pete Grangaard 45. Also playing were Zac Parente (47) and Nick Rider (48).

Columbian, who plays at home Thursday against Upper Sandusky, is now 1-4 on the year.

Old Fort falls to Elmwood

BETTSVILLE &emdash; Erik Lynch fired a 39 to earn medalist honors, and he and teammate K.C. Fry each birdied the ninth hole, but it wasn't quite enough as host Old Fort fell to Elmwood by a single stroke, 171-170, at Nature Trails Golf Course.

Fry and Jessica Garcia both shot 43 for the Stockaders. Chad DeMonte had a 46, Jason Kline 47 and Caleb Rice 49.

Brian Oestreich led Elmwood with a 40. Chad Stearns and Josh Carr both carded a 43. Eric Randolph had a 44, while Jeff Kromer and Jared Osborne each totaled 47s.

Old Fort falls to 1-1, with Elmwood moving on at 2-0.

Blue Jackets down Mohawk

Aaron Lafontaine and Zak Boes both shot a 44 to share medalist honors and help New Riegel beat Mohawk 179-190 Tuesday at Seneca Hills Golf Course.

Brian Hemrick carded a 45 and Jon Kauffman added a 46 to round out the Blue Jackets' scoring. Dave Brown (48) and Jeff Wank (53) also played.

Mohawk, which fell to 0-3, was led by Jared Reamer's 45.

Andy Hess shot a 46, Kip Wood had a 49 and Drew Mulholland and Kevin Manz both ended with a 50. Renee Clifton (54) also participated.

Sub 40s not enough for Mohawks to beat Arcadia

FOSTORIA &emdash; St. Wendelin had a pair of golfers shoot under 40, but Arcadia proved too tough down the stretch to edge the Mohawks, 165-168, in a quadrangular Tuesday with Hopewell-Loudon and Carey at Loudon Meadows Golf Club.

Jeff Koss of St. Wendelin topped all players with a 35 and teammate Tom Kemp followed with a 39.

Arcadia's Nick Allshouse carded a 39 himself, and was followed by Chase Hatfield's 40 and twin 43s from Derek Smith and Nick Frankart.

The victory moved the Redskins to 8-1 while St. Wendelin, which also got a 45 from Charlie Matthes and a 49 from Jeff Smith, slipped to 3-2.

Arcadia's Nathan Dreisbach (50) and David Sopher (53) and St. Wendelin's Jon Noe (51) and Brenton Duran (54) also played.

Hopewell-Loudon beat out Carey, 172-177, for third behind a 40 from Aaron Vay.

Jeremy Fletcher and Derek Hess each finished with a 43 for the Chieftains (2-7) and Danny Ray had a 46. Sean Harrison (56) and Josh Swander (58) also competed.

Carey was paced by Jacob Beck's 40. Richard O'Reilly added a 42, Corey Kitzler carded a 46 and Mark Yost had a 49. Clayton Kitzler (56) and Kyle Hunter (60) also took the course for Carey (0-6).

Crestline overpowers Tigers

Three of Crestline's four scorers all came in under the top Seneca East golfer Tuesday as the Bulldogs picked up a 167-182 win at Clinton Heights.

Crestline's Matt Hoffman carded a 36 to top all players. Teammates Jason Blocker and Jeremy Schell both ended with 40s while Anthony Johnston turned in a 50.

Scott Siesel's 44 led Seneca East (0-4). Randy Phillips shot a 45, Grant Hoerig had a 46 and Chad Mattson added a 47. Mike Schriner (54) also played.

Russell ties for medalist for FHS

FREMONT &emdash; Drew Russell tied for medalist honors Tuesday to help Fostoria finish second in a triangular at Fremont Country Club with Fremont Ross and Lorain Southview.

Russell and Josh Harnish of Ross both shot a 43 to lead all players.

Ross won the meet with a 186 while Fostoria upended Lorain Southview 196-211 for second.

Rob Downing turned in a 49 for the Redmen (4-2) and Mark Hipsher and Gaert Hansen each shot a 52. Brody Walters' 57 and Adam Omlor's 67 didn't count for the team score.
