Senecas win again

The Calvert Soccer team is on a winning streak.

After opening the season 0-9, the Senecas beat North Baltimore and made it two straight with a 1-0 win over Mohawk Monday.

The lone goal came on a set play off a corner kick which has been unsuccessful until this game. Peter Kin sent the ball into the left corner of the goal following a scramble and an assist from Chris Frank.

"We've been running that for three games and finally scored off it," Calvert assistant coach Ben Stover said.

Stover added that increased aggressiveness has led to the recent success.

"When we scored first, they were flying high and they never let up the whole game," Stover said. "They've been playing that way all year, but, when you're down, its hard to be aggressive. Tonight we made a few key substitiions to get some kids some breaks. Then they were ready to go strong."

The Senecas outshot Mohawk 11-9. Joe Dodson made five saves in goal for the Senecas while Mohawk goalie, Alex Spitler, had three.
