Aaron Hurd twirled a no-hitter as the Orioles crushed the Cardinals, 19-0. Cory Cook led the offense with two homers while Hurd belted a triple and home run. Brandon Hade had two doubles and a triple, Parker Woods and Justin Rosas each hit a single and double and Cory Kummer hit two singles. Ryan McCory tripled, Michael Ott and Willard McDole both doubled and Andrew Althaus and Craig Gibson each singled.
The Athletics defeated the Cardinals, 12-8. Matt Bowen hit two home runs for the A's, and other extra-base hits came from Cory Little (triple), Zach Hayes (double) and Alex Schafer (double, single). Nick Everhart chipped in two singles. Mike Runion doubled and singled at the plate and struck out nine on the mound in a losing effort for the Cardinals. Chris Scott homered and Dustin Roberts singled and doubled.
The Cubs doubled up the Diamondbacks, 8-4. Brenton Falber earned the win the smacked a triple. Robert Swartz doubled and Josh Morlock, Sam Distle, Coty Runion and Doug Donna all singled for the Cubs. The Diamondbacks got a double from Sean Kirchner and a single from Tim Harper. Adam Holman took the loss.
Aaron McQuistion singled twice and doubled to lead K of C past American Standard, 13-9. Joe Reamer added a single and double for K of C, Tiffany Bell and Josh Florence each doubled and Seth Carter and Jarrit Brouck both singled. Florence earned the win. American Standard got a home run and single from Keith Swartz and a single and double from both Natliah Mathias and Chad Banks. John Matheson tripled and Derek Burns, Justin Carter and Kory Conley each singled.
The Eagles broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the second, then held on to beat Old Fort Banking, 5-4. Dave Kelbley belted a triple for the Eagles. Mike Harvey got the win and helped his own cause with two singles while Willie Cole singled. Old Fort Bank got a pair of doubles from Caleb Saad and a single from both Thomas Osborne and J.R. McDole.
Sycamore fell to 3-3 on the year after coming up short to McCutchenville, 6-5. Jason Tooley led McCutchenville with two hits while Jake Stevens had a single. Jarod Swerline earned the win. Sycamore had two singles by Jerry Fleming, while Wes Jacoby, Cory Richmond, Josh Schwochow and Spence Wolf all singled.
Bascom crushed Bettsville, 19-6, to win its season-opening game. Jason Kovach blasted three singles and a double to drive in a run, Dereck Smith drove in two off two singles and two doubles, Shawn Bore had four RBI off two doubles and Shawn Brickner's three singles chased home two runs. Cody Brickner added two singles and a double to help Smith get the win. J. Harrison gave Bettsville a double while A. Lawrence, D. Ambrose and J. Tindel all singled.
Wade Bogard's stellar pitching effort was foiled in Clinton's 3-2 loss to Gibsonburg in the season-opener for both teams. Bogard fanned 14 and scattered five hits and three runs over seven innings, but Gibsonburg no-hit Clinton. Bogard and Brian Bridinger each scored a run for Clinton.
Joel Dickerson and Corey Peacock each had two hits as Tiffin upended Republic, 7-3. Dickerson had two singles while Peacock tripled and singled. Scott Arner earned the win while Tyler Schuff pitched the last inning in relief. Brad Jacobs, Robert Murphy, Jeremy Morgan, Nevin Martin and Adam Haman each added a single. Scherley, Ruffing, Roth, Phillips, Wittenmyer and Perkins each had a single for Republic.
Tiffin Ponytail League, Junior Division
Kalya Gadberry fanned seven and Brooke Peer, Lindsey Droll and Emily Morrow all had two hits as Tiffin Moose blanked Kiwanis, 23-0. Peer had two singles and Droll and Morrow each had a single and double. Amber Risner added a double and Merissa Bigley, Danielle Mollineaux, Alex Kirchner and Tasha Welly each had a single. Lisa Siebenaller was saddled with the loss for Kiwanis. Keile Reamer doubled while Siebenaller, Rachele Booze and Harley Butler all singled.
Tiffin Ponytail League, Senior Division
Merissa Conley blasted two homers and a single to help Viewpoint Graphics edge Marvins, 8-7. Tori Foster added two doubles, Shawna New had two singles, Ashley Hoepf had a single and double and Amanda Brown, Lindy Whitmer, Heidi Shepherd and Kylee Sexton all singled. Marvins got a home run and two singles from Katie Culver. Francessca Aiello singled twice and Brianne Schank and Andrea Marsillett each had a single.
