Houghton blanks TU in opener

Tiffin's men's soccer team started off on the wrong foot with a 3-0 loss to Houghton, N.Y.

Houghton, which finished last season ranked 17th in the nation, scored in the 23rd and 31st minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. The Highlanders finished it off with a score in the 78th minute.

''Up until they scored, I was pleased with the way things were going,'' Tiffin coach Ian Day said. ''I thought we were as good as if not better than them up to that point.

''It's disappointing to lose any game, let alone your opening game, but there were one or two bright spots.''

The Dragons try again at Tri-State Tuesday.
