Seneca Elections board losing 17-year member

By David Crawford
Staff Writer

A long-time member of the Seneca County Board of Elections will be retiring effective April 1.

Margorie Brickner, the current deputy director, has announced that after 17 years with the board, her last day will be March 31.

She said she is looking forward to spending more time with her family and her 23 grandchildren. She also hopes to travel a little more with her husband.

''I will miss most election night, when it's all over and everything has worked out right. I will also miss working with the people,'' Brickner said.

She said one thing she won't miss ''are the 6 o'clock in the morning calls on election morning to get people to work the polls.''

As chairman of the Board of Elections and as chairman of the Seneca County Democratic Executive Committee, Wayne Hoover said he ''has always found her to be conscientious and professional in carrying out her duties. I hate to see her leave.''

Since Brickner is a Democratic member of the bipartisan election board, Hoover said that the Seneca County Democratic Executive Committee will select a permanent replacement.

Anyone who is a Democrat and is interested in the position must submit a written resume and cover letter to: Wayne Hoover; P.O. Box 46; Bascom, OH 44809. For further information, contact Hoover at 937-2384.

Hoover said that he expected a final selection to be made in March.
