Tiffin police are investigating an armed robbery at a South Sandusky Street business.

According to police, the robbery happened at 2:41 p.m.Wednesday at The Drive Thru, 205 S. Sandusky. A report states the thief left the store with cash through the back of the building.

The suspect had a handgun, Tiffin Police Chief Tom Steyer said.

"No one was hurt," Det. Michael Marquis said.

The man was last seen heading north on Nile Street, he said.

Marquis said Tiffin police, along with the tracking dog Frits, searched the area, but could not find the suspect..

Seneca County sheriff's deputies remained at the business until Tiffin detectives could get there.

The suspect is described as a white, about 6 feet tall with light blue or gray eyes and medium brown eyebrows. Reports state he was wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans and black-and-white tennis shoes with the letters D and R on the side in orange. He also was said to have a ski mask that was olive green in the back and with camouflage material sewn into the front.

Marquis said the suspect dropped some of the money as he fled. School had just let out for the day and there were youths in the area when this happened. Marquis asked any youths or citizens who picked up any of the dropped money to return it.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to contact Det. Ron Green at the Tiffin Police Department.
