February 21, 2001 City council rezones property for business By Erik Burriss City Council rezoned a piece of recently annexed property Tuesday night, clearing the way for the relocation of an area business. The council unanimously approved an ordinance zoning about 28.6 acres of land along SR 18 north of the US 224 intersection for commercial use. Tiffin annexed the land from Hopewell Township, where it had been zoned agricultural, in September. When the owner, Steven Ley, approached the city planning commission about annexation in June 1999, he planned to move his electrical motor-servicing business to the location. However, Ley could not be reached recently for comment. American Armature now is at 980 Morgan Ave. The new downtown architectural review board also got its start Tuesday, with City Council approving the mayor's appointment of the board's five members. City Engineer Curtis Eagle, Robert Yager, John Huss, Marsha Paull and Karen Factor will begin approving modifications to the exteriors of downtown buildings, although Mayor Bernie Hohman did not have an exact date when the board will start meeting. The mayor's appointments of James Supance to the Port Authority and Seth E. Gardner to the Seneca County Health Board were also approved. In other news, City Council:
