![]() THURSDAY, MARCH 16, 2000 Barrel season is just down the road Erik Burriss Spring is in the air -- which means road construction projects. And the delays, detours and orange barrels associated with them are not far behind. The Ohio Department of Transportation announced its 2000 road construction projects for Northwest Ohio, including two repaving and two bridge replacements -- with an estimated price tag of more than $2 million -- in Seneca County. "We have an aggressive fiscal year 2000 construction program in Northwest Ohio," said Richard Martinko, deputy director of ODOT's District 2. "Our goal is to maximize our program while minimizing impact on the road user." Work on the SR 4 bridge over Mud Run, south of SR 162 in Reed Township, is to begin May 1. The estimated completion date is June 15 and the cost is projected to be $235,890. The other bridge is on US 224 in Hopewell Township over the East Branch of Wolf Creek. The new bridge is estimated to cost $430,00. Construction is to take place from May 1 to Aug. 31. The main road resurfacing and pavement repair project would be SR 100 from Tiffin to the Crawford County line. Included in that project is the repaving of CR 16 from SR 100 to SR 67, ODOT Seneca County Manager Curt Tusing said. The second project would be the resurfacing of SR 587 from US 224 to SR 18. The repaving projects are estimated to cost $1.49 million and scheduled to run from Aug. 1 to Sep. 30 with no detours. "There will be no closures for those resurfacing jobs," Tusing said. |
