On specific issues like education funding, electric deregulation, and agriculture, Gooding said he is still working to develop a position based on the views of his district.

"I want to express (the district's) views," he said. "I plan on listening to the people in the district and represent their views."

For every bill that has been introduced in the House, Gooding said he knows someone who that bill personally effects.

To help learn more about the district, Gooding said he was planning to accept the offer from former 90th representative Randy Weston, who offered to take Gooding around the district to introduce him.

Ohio House Democrats have appointed Gooding to the following committees: Energy and Environment, Ethics and Standards, and Housing and Public Land.

Gooding's first committee meetings with the Energy and Environment committee has focused on a House Resolution urging the federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule against the proposed Independence pipeline.

On the recent State of the State address by Governor Bob Taft, Gooding said there were a lot of proposals in Taft's speech he could support.

He said he wants to hear the opinions and concerns from residents of the 90th District. He encouraged residents to contact his office in Columbus at (614) 644-6265 or at home at (740) 726-2751 with their questions or comments.
