Victim of shooting transferred to MCO

A Bettsville man accused of shooting another had bond set Monday morning at $50,000 in Tiffin Municipal Court.

Adam Drenning, 20, 3801 1/2 W. SR 12, was charged with felonious assault in connection with an incident that left Brian Bolen, 19, Fostoria, with serious hand and minor chest injuries.

Drenning appeared at 9 a.m. without an attorney. He was referred to the Seneca County Public Defender's Office.

Bolen was transferred from Fostoria Community Hospital to the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. The hospital had no listing for Bolen Monday.

Drenning was treated and released from Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, for injuries received in an altercation prior to the shooting.

Sheriff H. Weldin Neff said the two argued at a party at Drenning's home, and Drenning threatened to shoot Bolen with a 12-gauge shotgun. Alcohol was being consumed at the party, Neff said.

Bolen allegedly wrestled the shotgun away from Drenning, then beat him with it.

Reportedly, Drenning took a 20-gauge shotgun and fired a shot through the windshield of a car in which Bolen was trying to leave. Some of the shot fragments reportedly hit Bolen's left hand.

Currently, Bolen has lost two fingers and part of another on his left hand. He also had chest and facial injuries, believed to be from the prior altercation, Neff said.
