James R. 'Russ' Saxton
Atlas Crankshaft retiree
James Russell "Russ" Saxton, 80, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at his home on US 23 South, Fostoria.
He was born March 16, 1919, in West Jefferson, to James and Myrtle (Gatton) Saxton. On March 29, 1941, in Fostoria, he married Marilyn M. Brombley. She survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons, Larry and James Michael Saxton, both of Defiance; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Judy) Thomas of Fostoria; a brother, Harold Saxton of Hamden; a sister, Evelyn Hartwell, also of Hamden; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mickie Shoaf and Irene Saxton, also are deceased.
Mr. Saxton, a 1937 graduate of Fostoria High School, retired in 1981 from Atlas Crankshaft, where he had been employed for 10 years. Prior to that he worked at the Autolite for 20 years, both of Fostoria
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Enon Valley Presbyterian Church, near Findlay. He also was an avid woodworker.
The Rev. Constance Cherry and Tom Everett will be the co-officiants at the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Cemetery (formerly Memory Gardens) near Arcadia, where military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Joint Veterans Service Group of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Seneca County or the church.
Max E. Shifflet
Autumnwood Care resident
Max E. Shifflet, 60, of the Autumnwood Care Center, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in the Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. Arrangements are pending at the Lucas Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.
Ruth C. (McCoy) Shumaker
retired school teacher
Ruth C. (McCoy) Shumaker, 85, of 430 N. Broadway, Green Springs, formerly of Tiffin and Wellsville, died at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Wellsville Oct. 25, 1914, to Cromer and Sadie Weekley. Her first husband, Russell James McCoy, is deceased. She later married Ike Shumaker, who also is deceased.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Patricia) Barto of Tiffin; a granddaughter, Cathy McClung; two great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother.
A retired school teacher, Mrs. Shumaker taught in the East Liverpool Schools.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church., its United Methodist Women, the Y-Wives and the Bridge Club of Tiffin.
Private family services will be Thursday in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Burial will be Friday in Springhill Cemetery, Wellsville.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may; be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Mary C. Olgr
Tiffin resident's grandmother
Mary C. Olgr, 92, formerly of Millbury and Toledo, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in the Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin, following a lingering illness.
She was born in Rockford, Ill, May 13, 1907, to George and Ann (Beyer) Simkus. Her husband, John Olgr, whom she married April 26, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., died July 5, 1986.
Survivors include: a granddaughter, Mary L. Sunderman of Tiffin; three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and many friends.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha; and a brother, Alexander.
Mrs. Olgr, an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa and its Altar Rosary Society, retired in 1956 from the former Autolite Co. of Toledo, where she had been employed for 23 years.
She also was a member of the Seton Club, the Genoa Area Senior Citizens and the former Romanian Club of Toledo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today in the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, 501 West St., Genoa, with the family present 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation also will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday until time of the Mass at the church.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Virginia M. Reedy Fuller
Former Tiffin resident
Word has been received of the death of Virginia M. Reedy Fuller, 78, of Phoenix, Ariz., who died at 10:22 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, in the John C. Lincoln Hospital, Deer Valley, Ariz., where she had been a patient for 10 days.
She was born July 20, 1921, in Lykens Township, Crawford County to Claude G. and Esther V. (Michener) Hammond. On Dec. 18, 1937, she married Everett Reedy. He died Aug. 6, 1943. On July 1, 1950, she married Dalton Fuller. He died Sept. 22, 1987.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Ina Rae Reedy) Sager of Tiffin, Mrs. Gerald (Deena Reedy) Larick of Golden Valley, Ariz., and Mrs. Joe (Karen Fuller) West of Phoenix; three sons, Everett W. Reedy of Mineral Wells, Texas, Melvin H. Reedy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Allen B. Fuller of Tiffin; a stepson, Robert Fuller of Tiffin; 36 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Miriam F. Heckerd of St. Petersburg, Fla., Carla G. Beale of Sandusky, Verneda I. Shuman and Marilyn Fogle, both of Brunswick; a brother, Marlin A. Hammond of Tiffin; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a stepdaughter, Donna Jean (Fuller) Gahris; a sister, Dortha Barrett; two brothers, Norman and Robert Hammond; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Fuller spent most of her life in Tiffin, moving to Phoenix in 1990.
A memorial service will be Saturday in the Madison Park Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Phoenix. Local graveside services are scheduled for May.

Dennis J. Schriner
Farmer/taxidernust
Dennis J. Schriner, 61, of Tiffin, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in the Ruffing Family Care Center, following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 25, 1938, in Bellevue to the late Walter and Mary (Miller) Schriner. His wife, Mary Ann (McGown) Schriner, survives in Tiffin.
Survivors also include: an aunt, Mrs. Walter (Rita) Kasuga of Tiffin; and an uncle.
Also preceding him in death was an infant sister, Mary Ann Schriner.
Mr. Schriner, a musician playing in various bands, was employed as a taxidermist, assisted his father in farming and gave guitar lessons.
He was a member of Reed Assumption Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Reed Assumption Catholic Church, with the Rev. John M. Nagele officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica, is in charge of arrangements.
