NEW ULM -- Engine House No. 3, aka the Goosetown Fire Station, 18 S. Valley, added a new 2001 Peterbilt fire truck to its equipment this week. The new truck, which replaced a 1969 Mack pumper, was built by Custom Manufacturing of Osceola, Wis. at a cost of $240,000. The diesel pumper has a tank capacity of 500 gallons, can pump 1,250 gallons per minute and has all electronic features. The truck will allow firefighters to pump water from inside the truck, another new feature. It also features customized graphics including three geese on its doors. Gib Yakesh of Custom Manufacturing of Osceola was in New Ulm Wednesday afternoon to train fire fighters on how to operate the truck and its state-of-the-art features. "It'll be three or four weeks before we put it in service," New Ulm Assistant Fire Chief Mike Schugel said. "We had to get everything loaded up on it and everybody trained on it. It's a big improvement from what we had." Goosetown station gets new pumper |
