Inventors Congress

starts Friday at Jackpot

MORTON -- The 47th annual Minnesota Inventors Congress has moved this year from the Redwood Area Convention Center to the Dacotah Exposition Center at Jackpot Junction Hotel and Casino.

Seminars begin at 9 a.m., Friday, June 11, and continue at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Exhibits will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

The Jim Lawrence Orchestra will perform at Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls and the Minnesota Over-60 Band will play at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls on Friday afternoon.

A community parade with more than 90 units begins at 7 p.m. Friday in downtown Redwood Falls and proceeds to Memorial Field. The parade includes the Su Fu Du Drum Corps, Redwood Valley, Yellow Medicine East and Montevideo high school bands, the Jim Lawrence Orchestra, Minnesota Over-60 Band and the Mankato T-Bird Shriners. An ice cream social and Su Fu Du concert follows.

New Ulm's Dick Kimmel & Co. Blue Grass Band will perform at 11 a.m. Saturday at the exposition center.

Displays include Neal James' small engines, the New Ulm Gem and Mineral Club and the MIC Hall of Fame at the Redwood Area Convention Center. A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Redwood Falls Airport.

The Lower Sioux Community's 27th Annual Traditional Wacipi (pow wow) will be held all three days at the Lower Sioux Reservation.

Flag raising is 7 a.m. daily. Grand entries are 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
