'Jack and the Beanstalk' in Sleepy Eye today

SLEEPY EYE -- More than 70 children in the Sleepy Eye area team up with two professional actors this weekend to present Prairie Fire Children's Theatre's original musical version of the classic tale, "Jack and the Beanstalk".

The next performance is 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 1:30 p.m. at the Sleepy Eye High School Auditorium.

"Jack and the Beanstalk", with script and original. music by Bob Gribas and Angela Rinaldi Gribas and costume and set design by Deborah Pick, continues Prairie Fire's tradition of presenting classic tales as you've never seen them done before.

Follow Jack's adventure up and down the beanstalk through the worlds of "Orchestrania", where all the people sing; "Featherville", whose inhabitants are most "fowl"; and "Giantland" where he meets the mischievous trolls (and, of course, The big guy.")

The local cast features: Adam Krzmarzick as Jack; Mandie Scharlemann as Jessie; Cassie Windschitl as Milky the Magic Cow; Mark Schroepfer as Enoch Slumlord; Stacie Havemeier as Mother; Jacob Fischer as Old Jeb; Josh Hedstrom. as Percy; Jessica Schroepfer as Prissy; Katelyn Juni as Sally; Karissa Windschitl as Gabby; Jordan Burden as Tody and Scott Ludewig as a Villager.

Members of the Orchestranians are Kaylie Hogue, George Hirschboeck, Melissa Schroepfer, Alisha Soukup, Wade Crooker, Erica Jensen, Allison Woitas, Amy Surprenant Maria Steffl, Sarah Ludewig, Kimberly Haugen, Chelsi Kuebler, Anna Surprenant, Carly Jensen, Natalie Schwartz, Angie Lax.

The carnies are Melissa Lax, Kelsey Sellner, Dylan Wurtzberger, Michelle Schroepfer, Paige Walter, Mikail Sellner, Lana Dittbenner, Amber Schwartz, Laure Ki, Alex Braun. The fifteen trolls are Scott Salfer, Kyle Krzmarzick, Andrew Hartberg, Tanner Weiss, Daniel J. Wagenseller, Isaac Braun, Ellen Mathiowetz, Zach Miller, Dillon Kober, Bridget Mathiowetz, Shelby Windschitl, Erica Crooker, Anna Ibberson, Emily Curtis and Isaac Kirschstein. Technicians include Abby Krzmarzick, Stephanie Havermeier, Laura Holm, Laura Hedstrom, Sandy Hillesheim, Kevin Hoffman, Brianna Bruggeman.

Prairie Fire professionals Adam Stachowiak and Alyse Kittner co-direct the production and play the roles of the Giant and the Storyteller.
