Accident victims improve

MANKATO -- Victims of an accident that claimed the life of a six-year-old Evan boy early last Sunday morning, continue to improve in Mankato and Twin Cities hospitals.

One of the four patients was discharged from the hospital.

Wade Deming, 37, of Evan was the last of four crash victims to leave an intensive care unit when he was moved out of the ICU at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato this week.

Deming was on a ventilator for several days before he began breathing on his own later this week, according to his mother, Carol Deming of rural New Ulm.

His injuries are still being assessed, according to his mother.

Aaron Christensen, 18, of Sleepy Eye, continued to improve at ISJ, according to a family member.

Cheryl Deming, 29, of Evan was discharged from North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, according to a hospital official.

Mark Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye was listed in fair condition at NMMC Friday.

Wyat Deming, 6, of Evan died Sunday at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital, from injuries suffered in the two-vehicle, head-on crash that happened at 5:25 a.m. that day on Highway 68, several miles east of Evan.

A fund to benefit accident victims has been set up at the La Salle branch of Citizens Bank of New Ulm.
