Filings for county, city offices start

Auditors' offices in area counties received the first filings for elected offices earlier this week.

The filings opened Tuesday morning and will close in two weeks.

Many county commissioner districts will sees incumbent seeking reelection.

Soil and water conservation districts also have open seats in the upcoming election.

City offices and school board seats are also up for election.

Brown County

Incumbent commissioners Charles Guggisberg and Richard Seeboth have filed in their respective districts.

Guggisberg represents the third commissioner district, which includes part of New Ulm as well as Milford Township. Seeboth represents the first district, which represents the remaining portion of New Ulm.

Seats in the first, second and fourth districts for the Brown County Soil and Water District are also open, but no one has filed for those seats yet.

Nicollet County

Commissioner James Stenson, an incumbent representing the county's second district, has filed for candidacy. Harry Jenness of North Mankato has filed for the fourth district seat, which is currently held by Dr. David Dehen, who has not yet filed. Eldon Brown, has filed for the one open spot on the Nicollet County Soil and Water District.

Redwood County

Two incumbent commissioners, Brian Kletscher and Gene Short, have filed for re-election in the county's first and fifth commissioner districts respectively.

Renville County

Incumbent commissioners Gale Dahlager and Ralph Novotny, have filed for re-election in the fifth and first commissioner districts respectively.

Sibley County

Commissioners Leo Bauer and Bill Pinske have filed for re-election. Bauer presently represents the county's third district. Pinske represents the second district.

New Ulm

Council President Dan Beranek filed Tuesday for a four-year term as councilor-at-large. Ruth Ann Webster filed for a second four-year term as councilor from the First Ward. City Elections Supervisor Lisa Pelzel reported There are no filings yet for the Third Ward councilor seat now held by Sharon Weinkauf, City Elections Supervisor Lisa Pelzel reported. The filing deadline for city offices is Tuesday, July 20, at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

Sleepy Eye

School Board

The District 84 School Board has three four-year seats open. They are now filled by Alma Saenz, Don Domeier and Michal Anderson-Lowther. A two-year seat filled by Mark Beito, who was appointed by the board, is also open.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no one had filed.

City Council

Four-year seats open this year include Mayor Jim Broich and councilors Lori Hirschboeck and Gary Windschitl. Harry Windschitl's two-year councilor-at-large seat will also be open. The filing period is Aug. 24-Sept. 7.

Springfield

School Board

Four seats are open. Incumbents are chairperson Dennis Potter, David Carruthers, Dale Lindmeier and Darvin Voge.

Springfield

City Council

Four-year seats open include Mayor Mark Braun and councilors Lowell Helget and Jeff Carlson. The filing period is Aug. 24-Sept. 7.
