NEW ULM -- It was a good day to be in a dunk tank.

With temperatures once again in the 90s, Police Chief Howard Zins was probably hoping the kids would hit the target.

And they did.

Again and again and again.

"That's wet," said Zins after being dunked time after time by bullet-like bullseyes from 12-year-old Justin Sellner, who seemed to have the accuracy of Roger Clemens.

Sellner, though, said there was nothing to it.

"I just try to hit the red square," he said.

They were just two of the people enjoying a Saturday at the 11th Annual Flandrau Fest at Flandrau State Park.

Dozens of people of all ages joined in the activities that included frisbee throwing, sand sculpting, basketball shoots, tug-of-war, a medallion hunt and many other games.

Crowd (and kid) friendly music played in the background while an announcer kept an eye on the limbo contest.

Also, there was a beach ball hunt for children under five.

This year organizers from Friends of Flandrau added arts and crafts at no cost.

But the biggest crowd pleasers of all were anything involving water.

Dozens flocked to the pool and kids lined up awaiting a tube to float down the Cottonwood River.

The high river levels proved too tempting to try and $3 too small a price, in only the second year tubing has been available at the Fest.

Daniel Timm, 10, stood in a water balloon cage making faces at his brother Ryan, 11, tempting him to fling water balloons from an elastic contraption.

"You're hiding behind the big pole," complained Ryan, after sending multiple balloons crashing against the cage and spraying his brother. "Move over."
