By SARA SYVERSON Journal Staff Writer NEW ULM -- New owners and a new business called Edwards Bridal & Tux have replaced Kenmar's Bridal and Tanning, at 6 N. Minnesota Street, New Ulm. Ken and Marcy Gulden, of New Ulm, sold their bridal business to Guy and Shirley Edwards, of New Ulm, who opened their doors on July 1, 1999. "It's been very interesting so far," said Shirley, "We're emphasizing customer service through private appointments." The Edwards' goal is to become a "total wedding store" which focuses on planning and customer service as part of a package, Guy said. The new bridal store will include a basement bargain area where overstocked gowns and discontinued formal wear will sell for $100, $25 and $5. Edward's Bridal & Tux plans to expand their jewelry and giftware lines and add mother-of-bride dresses to their retail line. "We are urging brides to schedule non-store hour appointments so they can discuss, plan, and try on gowns at their leisure, and we can devote our total attention to pleasing them and help in planning their special day," said Guy. Edwards Bridal & Tux has approximately 100 bridal gowns in stock, representing eight different lines. Special orders can be placed to other lines, Guy said. The store carries various styles of formal gowns and bridesmaid dresses and also offers tuxedo rental from several companies. "All our stock makes us better able to serve customers from a limited budget to the most elaborate," said Guy, "The new lines or upgraded store won't happen overnight, but the customer service aspect of our business is there and will continue to be there. We have adopted our motto of 'Your special day is special to us,' not as a get more business slogan, but as our committment to our customers and our way of doing business." The business will also offer bridal delivery to the church on the day of the wedding, said Tasha Weinrich, assistant manager and bridal consultant.
