Ventura coming to New UlmBy RON LARSEN Journal Staff Writer ST. PAUL -- Governor Jesse Ventura will be stopping in New Ulm and broadcastinng his weekly radio show from German Park on Sept. 7 during an upcoming tour of the Minnesota River valley. The trip is the first of a series of fall tours the governor will be making as he talks about the results of the 2001 legislative session. "We've just completed a legislative session that produced historic property tax reform and relief," Ventura said. "Now we want to speak directly to the people about what we accomplished, and what we still need to do." According to the governor's office, Ventura will arrive in Appleton the morning of Thursday, Sept. 6, visiting with local citizens before continuing on to Montevideo and Granite Falls. After visiting a couple of Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program sites, one of which probably will be near Redwood Falls, the governor and his party will continue along the river to New Ulm where he will be the guest of honor at a community dinner at the Holiday Inn hosted by the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce. "The dinner will be held at the Holiday Inn with a social hour starting at 6 p.m. and the dinner at 7," said Jenny Eckstein, chamber office manager. "We'll have 275 tickets at $22.50 each going on sale Aug. 27." Eckstein said the Concord Singers may provide the entertainment, but that has not been determined yet. Ventura will stay overnight at the Holiday Inn and will be given a tour of New Ulm Friday morning by Mayor Arnold Koelpin and city officials. He will then visit downtown businesses and host his "Lunch with the Governor" radio show in German Park.
