NEW ULM -- The city could see more money from the federal government to help with the runway expansion at New Ulm Municipal Airport if the city council decides to accept a recent grant offer.

A resolution accepting an offer from the Federal Aviation Adminstration that could bring up to $155,700 for the airport project is slated for discussion and possible council action Tuesday evening.

If approved, the grant could add to the ongoing runway expansion and repair project at the airport. New Ulm recently got a $146,800 grant from the U.S. Department of Transporation, which was also funding for runway rehabilitation and a master plan study.

The council is also expected to receive opened bids and consider awarding a runway paving contract in the amount of $23,467 following the outcome of the grant issue, according to Tuesday night's agenda.

A resolution that would approve the plans and specifications and order construction bids for the New Ulm Recreational Trail is also on the agenda.

The council will also:

* Consider giving City Manager Brian Grametz permission to start right-of-way acquisition for the Oak Street alignment between Garden Street and N. Highland Avenue by hiring an independent appraiser to examine any affected property.

* Consider closing the section of State Street that runs between 13th and 14th North Streets temporarily for an auction at a house on N. State Street on Saturday, Sept. 20.

* Consider closing the part of South Valley Street between 19th and 20th North Streets for a Putting Green fundraiser between noon and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5.
