Highway 14 barricades must be obeyed

NEW ULM -- Highway 14 reconstruction project officials reiterated this week that barricades with ROAD CLOSED signs mean just that -- roads are not open.

The point was emphasized this week at the weekly highway project meeting at the motor vehicle license bureau office at 1901 N. Franklin Street.

Motorists were urged to use extra caution at the intersection of Highway 14 and Garden Street due to changed traffic patterns.

Eastbound through traffic on Highway 14 entering New Ulm from the west is required to use the posted detour route on county roads 13 and 29. Detours were created to avoid traffic backups on Westridge Road.

Broadway is now open to cross traffic at most streets south of 17th North.

There will be no Highway 14 update meeting on Monday, Sept. 6 (Labor Day).
