Lange,

Chadderdon

advance in

sheriff's race

ST. PETER -- North Mankato patrol officer David Lange was the runaway winner in the Nicollet County Sheriff primary Tuesday, and will be joined by Nicollet County Deputy Marc Chadderdon in the November election.

Lange pulled in 2,496 votes to 1,360 for Chadderdon. St. Peter patrol sergeant Loren Jansen took third with 992 votes, and Nicollet County Jail Administrator Brian Wieland was fourth with 414 votes.

"I'm pleased to be continuing on in the process, said Chadderdon. He said he was upset with the low voter turnout, (5,598 votes were cast in the sheriff's primary) but said that was to be expected in the primaries. "I'm looking forward to the upcoming debates."

"I know the numbers will be up. I think we will do well," said Chadderdon. "Between Dave Lange and I, I still feel confident. I've got a lot of door-to-door to do yet."

Referring to the low turnout, Chadderdon said, "I think this is what we normally have during the primary."

"I'm happy with the results," said Lange. "I have a lot of support. I look forward to the November elections."

"I hit every residence in Nicollet County," said Lange. He said he thought that makes a big difference, that people like the personal contact. "I'm hoping I fare just as well as I did in the primary. I don't see how it would change."

Lange said he will look at the results of the primary election and go after the votes that went to other candidates. "I'll probably try to go door-to-door in those areas again."
