County participating in computer recycling programNEW ULM -- Do you have an old computer or TV stored in your closet, basement, or garage? If so, do a favor for yourself and the environment. Recycle it next Saturday, Sept. 21. Brown County residents, businesses, and schools are invited to participate in a FREE Computer and TV Recycling Event at the Green Expo on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This special one-day event is being held in conjunction with the Green Expo and is cosponsored by the Brown County Recycling Office and Waste Management. Individuals may bring and recycle up to 10 computers, monitors, hard drives, keyboards, and portable TVs for free. The electronics will be collected in the Vogel Arena parking lot, 122 South Garden Street, New Ulm. Look for the drop-off collection station and volunteers as you arrive at the Green Expo. No console TVs or other electronics will be accepted for recycling at this one day event. However, if you have more than 10 computer units or TVs and other electronics to recycle, contact Waste Management in New Ulm at 507-354-3423, Toll Free at 800-457-0307 or call the Brown County Recycling Office at 507-233-6641 for pricing information. Waste Management's Asset Recovery Group (ARG) , located in Minneapolis, will demanufacture the old computer and TV units, recover the metals, glass, and plastic, and prepare the collected items for shipment to components processors.
