Neigebauer crowned Miss New UlmBy FRITZ BUSCH Journal Staff Writer NEW ULM -- Admitting it caught her by surprise, Kirsten Neigebauer became the 2003 Miss New Ulm Saturday night when she was selected among 30 candidates in front of a packed house at the New Ulm Civic Center. The daughter of Pete and Linda Neigebauer, Kristen said she was very excited to serve the City of New Ulm for the coming year because it's going to be an awesome year. "I look forward to being a role model for younger kids," Neigebauer said. Indeed. It appears she already is. Neigebauer is Secretary of the New Ulm Future Farmers of America Chapter, on the Fall Dance Team, figure skates, is a member of Students Against Drunk Driving, 4-H, mentors elementary students, belongs to the New Ulm Diocesan Youth Council and is very active in youth groups at St. Mary's Church in New Ulm. Megan Schuetzle, daughter of Jim and Jackie Schuetzle, was named First Princess. Tana Lamm, daughter of Allen and Sue Lamm, was named Second Princess. Mary Lambrecht, Miss New Ulm 2002, thanked The Concord Singers, Narren and the New Ulm Firefighters for making her year of reign possible. "New Ulm is a wonderful city and I'm proud to call it my hometown," Lambrecht said. Music was provided by the White Sidewalls and Johnny Helget Band at the contest.
