Authorities continue probe into murder attempt

RENVILLE COUNTY -- The investigation into the attempted murder of Lorraine Boesch by Richard Boesch, 64, of New Ulm, continues, Renville County authorities said on Wednesday.

The alleged assault on Lorraine Boesch's life took place Sunday in Renville County.

Officers have conducted interviews with several people and are currently testing evidence seized from Boesch's van, according to Deputy Scott Hable of the Renville County Sheriff's Department

In addition, Brown County court records indicate that Lorraine Boesch had filed for divorce more than one year before Sunday's assault.

Richard Boesch was charged Tuesday with two counts of attempted murder in the first degree. He is incarcerated at the Kandiyohi County Jail in Willmar.

Lorraine Boesch has also requested an order for protection from Brown County District Court.

An order for protection restrains a person from making contact with another person, typically because of threats or abuse. Anyone who violates such an order can face criminal charges.

Court documents indicated that divorce proceedings were under way at the time that Richard Boesch, allegedly tried to kill Lorraine on Sunday at a boat landing on the Cottonwood River near Franklin.
