RiverrisingMinnesotaclimbs 4.32 feetBy FRITZ BUSCH Journal Staff Writer NEW ULM -- Due to heavy rainfall last week in areas to the northwest of New Ulm, the Minnesota River at climbed 4.32 feet here since Monday, Oct. 25. The river level at New Ulm reached 791.95 feet Monday, according to New Ulm Assistant City Manager Tom MacAulay. River flood stage at Riverside Park in New Ulm is 796 feet. "It's nothing to be concerned about at this point. We'll keep watching it," MacAulay said. National Weather Service (NWS) hydrological prediction levels for New Ulm were not available Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Red River surged past flood stage at Fargo and points north including Crookston Monday. Persons living in the Red River Basin were urged to monitor river levels until expected crests occur this week. The Red River at Fargo was measured at 18.01 feet as of 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to the NWS. Flood stage is 17 feet. The river is expected to slowly fall but remain above flood stage through Friday, Nov. 5. A flood statement was issued along much of the Red River Basin in northwestern Minnesota and extreme eastern North Dakota.
