dies in car crash

NEW ULM -- A 74-year-old New Ulm woman died Saturday night from injuries received in a single-vehicle automobile accident in the northeast corner of New Ulm.

Geraldine Abbas was eastbound on 19th Street North when she lost control of a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville at the intersection of 19th North and Front Street at 9:56 p.m. Saturday, according to New Ulm Police.

The vehicle traveled about 300 feet before it struck a concrete barrier on property owned by Sioux Valley Ready Mix, 1716 N. Front St., police said.

It was not determined if Abbas was wearing a seat belt. There were no other occupants in the vehicle that was demolished, according to police.
