NEW ULM -- Residents in New Ulm can now ride in style.

Kehn's Limousine opened for business in September and will drive anyone, anywhere.

Kehn's Limousine owners, Wayne Kehn and Christine Moyer, decided to open the limousine business to give the public a different choice of transportation. Kehn's Limousine is the only business of its kind in town.

"Wayne has always been interested in the limousine business," Moyer said. "He works construction in the summer, so this will give him something to do on the side during the winter."

Kehn owns one white Lincoln Royale limousine that is 100 inches long and carries up to eight passengers. Inside the limousine, patrons have everything they need; T.V., V.C.R., stereo, dry bar, crystal stemware, heat and air conditioning, mood lighting, privacy divider and a moon roof.

Kehn said his business doesn't have a liquor license but people may bring beverages with them to keep in the coolers.

Business has been slower than expected since they opened, but Kehn hopes it will soon change.

"Business has been very slow," Kehn said. "The whole industry has been down. But hopefully, things will pick up."

Kehn previously had some business experience, but said obtaining all the permits and learning about all the different regulations was a challenge.

"We would hear one thing from one company, and then hear another thing from somebody else," Kehn said. "There are a lot of different rules and regulations. You have to carry a certain license and different size limos require different licenses and have different regulations."

Kehn's Limousine has basic standard rates that are adjusted accordingly.

"We try offer prices that fit the people of New Ulm," Moyer said. "We keep our rates underneath our competitors."

Kehn's Limousine caters to pretty much anything -- weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, kids events, concerts, casino trips, charters, corporate events and special events.

Kehn enjoys the line of work, especially when he sees the smiles on kids' faces when they get inside the limousine.

"The kids really get a kick out of it," Kehn said. "They're usually up by me, asking me all sorts of questions, but I enjoy it."

Kehn and Moyer said this was a learning experience for them.

"It was a challenge learning how to run this business on our own," Moyer said. "But, we loved every minute of it."

Kehn agreed. "It has been worth the work, but we've had fun doing it," he said.

Kehn's Limousine will be offering special packages and encourage people to call with questions. Kehn can be reached at (507) 276-0103 or (507) 354-3217.
