VEGA Venture coming to Redwood FallsREDWOOD FALLS -- VEGA Venture, a Twin Cities-based firm that collects and markets remote images of the U.S. plans to open an office early next year at Redwood Falls airport. The firm plans to base Pilatis PC12 single-engine turboprop airplanes at the airport that will produce digital images on demand, to required specifications for GIS (Geographic Information System) users. VEGA Venture anticipates basing 15 pilots and 8-10 mechanics and GIS technicians at the airport, according to Redwood Area Development Corp. Economic Development Specialist Julie Rath. The company has been contracted to bring GIS users precisely rectified, high-resolution, remote-sensed images for the past two years. It further stated that there is a large, underserved and growing market for the images. The images are rapidly evolving into valuable tools for farmers, developers, foresters, city planners, environmentalists, regulatory agencies, security analysts, insurors, and disaster management agencies.
