CLASS 2A

Todd Sievert (33-7) of Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop/McLeod West was eliminated at 112 pounds. Nate Rausch of Walker-Hackensack-Akeley/Nevis pinned Sievert in 1:24 in the first round and Rausch subsequently lost in the quarterfinals.

CLASS 1A

Wabasso's Brandon Schunk advanced to the semifinals. Schunk (44-1) edged Steven Emerick of Hayfield in the first round at 103 pounds and then defeated David Cunningham of Meadow Creek Christian 12-3 in the quarterfinals. Schunk wll meet Nathan Janson (41-1) of Pierz in the semifinals.

At 125 pounds, Wabasso's Nathan Rohlik edged Mark Bonagofsky of Mahnomen/Waubun 5-3 in the first round and then beat Pierz's Nick Gruber 11-3 in the quarterfinals.

Rohlik (40-3) will meet Shane Masching of Hayfield in the semifinals, which begin at 6:30 p.m. today.

Rabbits' 135-pounder Cole Altermatt (41-3) blanked Brent Yule of Medford 6-0 and then edged Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale's Cullen Captain 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Altermatt will face Craig Luberts in the semifinals today.

The Rabbits' Steven Wood won his first heavyweight match against Korey Siltman of Braham 2-1, but fell 10-2 to Dover-Eyota's Tyler Jeche in the quarterfinals. Wood will meet Dylan Solberg of West Central Area in the first round of wrestlebacks, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. today.

The Rabbits' Brandon Irlbeck fell in his 145-pound quarterfinal match with Tom Hamilton of Southland 8-6 to drop into the consolation bracket. Irlbeck had earlier defeated Dave Voeltz of Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale.

Nicollet 189-pounder Kyle Asleson was pushed into the consolation bracket after Joey Graczyk of Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted pinned Asleson in 3:14 in the quarterfinals. Asleson, who had earlier decisioned Mark Olson of Dawson-Boyd 8-6, will meet Kevin Smude of Pierz in the wrestlebacks.

Matt Allerson of Nicollet is still alive on the consolation side after a first-round loss. Allerson (32-11) will meet Bryce Olson of Fertile-Bertrami.

Jamie Wagner will continue his quest for the title at 160 pounds, beating Frazee's Dan Stenger 7-6 and Wabasha-Kellogg's Brian Carrels 8-6. Wagner will face Steve Maas of Medford in the semifinals.

Madelia/Truman's Brandon Greiner, who lost to Brandon Schmoll of Bird Island-Olivia-Lake Lillian District 7-4 in the first round, was eliminated when Schmoll lost in the quarterfinals. Jayhawks' 130-pounder Jason Forstner was also eliminated Thursday; Devin Blom of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City decisioned Forstner 6-4 in the first round.

The Jayhawks' Marc Eytcheson was also eliminated after getting pinned in 3:53 by Jed Deno of Triton in the first round.

M/T's Adam Leiferman is still in the chase for a consolation championship. Leiferman, the Jayhawks' 140-pounder, rallied from a 5-0 deficit to edge Jon Millen of Pine Island 9-8 in the first round. BOLD's Shawn Plumley, however, edged Leiferman 5-4 in the quarterfinals; Leiferman will meet Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City's Jason Litzau in the wrestlebacks.

Sibley East 171-pounder Andrew Streich is alive in the consolation bracket. Streich fell to Dan Britz of Pierz 6-2 in the first round, but gained the wrestlebacks when Britz won his second-round match.

Erik Wallace of Sibley East dropped his first-round 145-pound match with Nick Krebsbach of Osakis 9-2. When Krebsbach lost in the quarterfinals, Wallace was eliminated.

Wolverines 152-pounder Sam Britt was also ousted. Lee Rahrlein topped Britt (24-12) in the first round and Rarhlein was sent into the wrestlebacks when he lost a 7-5 decision to Southland's Adam Landherr.
