Guetter makes top ten at Falcon InvitationalBy JEN SEAVEY Journal Sports Editor BUFFALO LAKE -- On a breezy day at the Falcon Invitational played at the Oakdale Country Club, Wabasso's Cole Guetter was the lone Tomahawk Conference player to make the top ten. Of the nine Tomahawk teams -- including two from McLeod West and none from Springfield -- Wabasso had the lead with 344, which was fifth overall. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop was next with 348 and sixth overall, Sleepy Eye St. Mary's and Sleepy Eye tied at 351 for seventh and eighth, and Cathedral had a 372 to finish 12th. Cedar Mt. shot a collective 391, McLeod West Red had 400, Buffalo Lake-Hector shot a 418 and McLeod West had a 430. Sophomore Cole Guetter shot an 80 on the par 72 course to take 10th behind Nick Grene from Annandale and Andy Liefermann from Glencoe-Silver Lake, who shot 80s as well. "He said he did really well on the back nine, but the wind was also a factor," Wabasso coach Darren Anderson said. "He was wearing his lucky hat again today. He shot a 37 in Sanborn yesterday with it -- he's been coming around as of late." Cole Guetter's older brother Jase Guetter finished just one stroke over Cole at 81. Andy Dallman shot a 91 and John Frericks had a 92. GFW's Karl Pagel also shot in the low 80s with an 82, Grant Linsmeier shot an 86, Justin DeRock had an 88 and Scott Johnson had a 92. The Knights Garett Soukup also shot an 82 as the low for the team. Chris Ibberson shot an 87, Mark Grausam had an 89 and John Schmid had a 93. The Indians shot pretty consistently, with Andrew Rodriguez at 84, Alex Windschitl at 86 and Mitch Anderson at 87. Brandon Kuelbs shot a 94. For Cathedral, Mike Vetter was low with an 87, Dan Vetter shot a 93 and Tim Smith was right behind with 94, and Dustin Grausam shot a 98. For Cedar Mt., Jon Kalkhoff had a 95, Dan Schroeder had a 96, Aaron Larsen shot a 98 and Joe Tews had a 102. For McLeod West Red, Charles Rettig and Kurt Hedtke were low with a 92 and 99.
