ACGC tops 9-team

field at Oakdale CC

HUTCHINSON -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City recorded a 329, winning the nine-team McLeod West Boys Invitational golf tournament at Oakdale Country Club Wednesday.

Ryan Walsh from ACGC won medalist honors after a playoff with McLeod West's Paul Voelker. Both shot 78 in regulation.

Sleepy Eye St. Mary's took second in the team standings with a 335. McLeod West followed with a 338 for third.

Maynard-Clara City-Raymond scored a 343 -- good for fourth place; fifth went to New Ulm Cathedral with a 345. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop was sixth with 347, Delano seventh with 354, Sibley East eighth with 355, and Buffalo Lake-Hector ninth with 385.

Cathedral's Luke Schmitz finished third in the individual standings with a 79. Finishing in fourth and fifth, each with an 80, were St. Mary's Dan Maurer and Kevin Struxness from MACCRAY, respectively.

Cathedral's Nate Vonderhaar shot an 88. Teammates Pat Johnson and Mike Vetter both tallied 89 for the Greyhounds.

Nick Novotny scored an 82 for St. Mary's. Knight Brett Mathiowetz shot an 86, and Brent Krzmarzick an 87.

Ben Schmid was the T-Bird's low scorer with 82. Teammate Adam Cull added an 86. Karl Pagel shot an 88 and Matt Gerardi a 91.

McLeod West's next low score after Voelker came from Joe Vacek with an 81. Doug Kuttner tallied an 87 and Todd Hasfeldt a 92.

Leading Sibley East was Kevin Huntley with an 83. Jeff Ziegler contributed an 85. Keith Vos finished in 91 and Jacob Gustafson added a 96.

Jason Eckstein shot a 93 to top BLH. Aaron Stromley shot a 96 for the Mustangs, and Adam Swanson and Jacob Burgstehler each shot 100.
