SEARLES -- For five innings, Searles righthanded pitcher Paul Buboltz frustrated Brewer hitters. He worked out of bases loaded situations in both the top of the fourth and fifth innings, givinp up just one run.

But in the top of the sixth, Brewer bats finally got to him.

Jason Rewitzer's lead-off single in the sixth sparked a five run tally as New Ulm erased an early 2-0 Grizzlie lead to down Searles 9-3 Sunday afternoon in Tomahawk East League play.

Tony Burt improved his personal record to 2-0 picking up the win for the Brewers (3-0). Burt went eight innings and fanned seven., yielding three runs -- two of which were earned.

Buboltz was tagged with the loss for Searles (0-2) giving up six runs in six innings. He struck out five.

Jamie Hoffmann had three hits for the Brewers including a three-run home run in the eighth inning. He finished with five RBI. Todd Hoffmann had two hits including a double and drove in three runs.

Mike Portner, Casey Lux and Frank Forstner each had two hits for Searles with Lux belting a two-run first inning home run.

Searles would use Lux's long ball to take a 2-0 lead, as he laced a 1-0 Burt offering over the fence scoring Mike Portner who has singled ahead of him.

The Brewers, who will host Stark Wednesday night in an 8 p.m make-up game at Johnson Park, cut that lead in half in the fourth inning. Hoffmann led off with a single to center and a Chris Peters' groundout moved him to second. Todd Hoffmann's line drive base hit to center scored Jamie Hoffmann.A walk to Corey Schaefer and a two-out free pass to Travis Thorson loaded the bases but Buboltz coaxed Evan Jacobs into a groundout to end the inning.

New Ulm threatened again in the fifth inning as Buboltz issued one-out walks to Troy Kamm and Jamoe Hoffmann before he struck out Peters for the second out. Todd Hoffmann drew the third walk of the inning to load the bases but Buboltz retired Corey Schaefer on a groundout.

But in the sixth, the Brewers would send nine men to the plate and score five times.

Travis Thorson reached on a base hit following Rewitzer's single and a walk to Evan Jacobs loaded the bases Scott O'Brien's sacrifice fly plated Rewitzer with the tying run. An error permitted Kamm to reach base before Jamie Hoffmann broke the tie with a two-run single for a 4-2 New Ulm lead.

A wild pitch, a walk and Todd Hoffmnan's ground single to left moved the Brewers into a 6-2 lead.

The Grizzlies, who will host Hanska next Sunday at 2 p.m. got a run back on a single, an error and an RBI single by Frank Forstner.

But the Brewers pushed three runs across in the top of the eighth off of reliever David Hatle. O'Brien was hit by a pitch and Kamm walked before Jamie Hoffmann powered a three-run home run over the rightfield fence for a 9-3 lead.

On Friday night, the New Ulm Brewers edged Springfield 1-0 as Ryan Walters allowed only one hit while striking out nine in the win. The only run scored on a wild pitch.
