SEARLES -- Lefthander Any Bettin scattered four hits in 7 1/3 innings, and New Ulm bats blasted out 10 hits as the Brewers ran their Tomahawk East League record to 4-0 with a 10-1 triumph over Searles Sunday.

Bettin struck out three and walked five in allowing the only Grizzlie run in the eighth inning.

Jake Schneider took the loss for Searles, now 1-3, going 4 1/3 innings and giving up eight runs.

Searles pitching did not record a strikeout in the game.

Troy Kamm,Dan O'Brien and Brad Weber each collected two hits for the Bewers. Both of O'Brien's hits were doubles. Kamm drilled a double and a two-run home run. Scott Schaefer also drove in two runs.

Casey Lux had two hits for Searles.

The Brewers will play on Wednesday and Friday at home when they host Springfield and Essig. Both games start at 8 p.m.

Searles travels to Sleepy Eye Wednesday night in a 8 p.m. game.

New Ulm jumped on Searles for two runs in both the first and second innings.

In the first, Kamm doubled and O'Brien walked. Kamm was forced at third. One out later, Scott Schaefer delivered a two-run single.

In the second, Al Flor and Aaron Nesvold each singled with one out. O'Brien's first double of the game scored Flor. Nesvold trotted home on a Brad Weber infield hit.

New Ulm made it 5-0 in the fourth inning. Flor's walk started the inning. Flor and Nesvold were safe when Nesvold's groundball was booted.

A fielder's choice and an error plated Flor.

Two one-out walks by Jake Schneider preceded a two-run triple by Corey Schaefer. Schaefer came home on Flor's sacrifice fly to center field.

The Brewers closed out their scoring in the eighth off reliever Nate Neubauer. After a base hit, Kamm hammered a home run over the fence in right field for the 10-0 cushion.

The Grizzlies scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the inning without the aid of a hit.

Brandon Zenk walked and Casey Lux singled. A fielder's choice loaded the bases before Bettin walked Pat Portner to force in Zenk. Tony Burt then took over for Bettin and ended the inning with a strikeout.

Searles threatened in the bottom of the ninth, loading the bases with two out on singles by Kevin Forstner, Lux and Mike Portner. But Burt retired Jeremy Drexler on a comebacker to end the game.

ESSIG 12, HANSKA 9

ESSIG - The Essig Bluejays jumped to a 7-0 lead after two innings and held on for a 12-9 win over Hanska Sunday afternoon.

Kevin Hulke, the second of three Bluejay pitchers, was credited for the win as Essig improved to 3-1 in the Tomahawk East League.

Dayton Larson started for the Lakers and was charged with the loss, going seven innings and yielding all 12 runs.

Terry Helget paced the 11-hit Bluejay attack going 4-for-4 with a solo home run and four RBI. Helget's home run was the only extra base hit of the game for Essig. Jeff Juni and Mitch Lewis each added two hits with Juni driving in three runs..

Billy Helget, Dan Moses, Luke Jacobs and Dayton Larson all had two hits for Hanska.

Essig returns to action on Friday when they travel to New Ulm to face the Brewers in an 8 p.m. make-up game. Hanska hosts Redwood Falls Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
