NEW ULM -- Jeremy Wieland struck out 13 Hanska batters and allowed only two Laker hits as the New Ulm Brewers improved to 5-0 in the Tomahawk East League with a 7-0 win Sunday night.

Wieland permitted a hit in the fourth and fifth innings. He struck out the first 11 Hanska batters that he faced in the game.

Righthander Jon Beckius took the loss for the Lakers.

Troy Kamm had two hits for the Brewers. Chris Peters, Todd Hoffmann and Brad Weber doubled for New Ulm. Weber had two RBI.

The Brewers, who will host Searles on Friday, took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Beckius walked Troy Kamm who went to third on Scott Schaefer's one-out single. Chris Peters' double to center scored Kamm.

New Ulm added another run in the third inning.

Scott Schaefer drew the one-out free pass and came home on Todd Hoffmann's two-out double.

Hanska mounted its only real threat of the game in the fourth. After Wieland retired the first two Laker batters of the inning, he issued free passes to Beckius and Luke Jacobs. Dan Moses then got the first hit of the game for Hanska with an infield single that loaded the bases.

But Wieland got Isaac Larson swinging for the third out.

New Ulm put two runs across in the bottom of that inning when Beckius hit Shane Kraus. Corey Schaefer's sacrifice bunt moved Kraus to second. An error on a John Enter ground ball put Brewers on first and third. Troy Kamm's bloop single just over Laker second baseman Jeremy Drexler's glove plated Kraus.

A Brad Weber ground ball scored Enter.

Chad Hoffmann's single to start the sixth, and a Weber double to left lifted New Ulm to a 5-0 lead.

The game, which took less than two hours to play, saw New Ulm tack on two more runs in the seventh with a walk again starting the tally.

Todd Hoffmann walked and Evan Jacobs' one-out infield single put pinch runner Jared Visker on second.

Chad Hoffmann's ground ball to second was misplayed and allowed both runners to score for a 7-0 lead.
