Brewers stayunbeatenBy JIM BASTIAN Journal Sports Writer NEW ULM -- This baseball season, New Ulm Brewer righthander Tony Burt has been practically unhittable. Prior to Friday night's Tomahawk East League at Johnson Park against Searles, Burt had allowed only six hits in 16 innings of work. That domination of enemy hitters continued Friday night as Burt allowed only one hit in eight innings of work while striking out four as the New Ulm Brewers upped their season mark to 7-0 by blanking Searles 3-0. Ryan Walter set down Searles in order in the ninth, striking out two. Burt permitted only one hit - a fly ball single by Grizzlie pitcher Paul Buboltz to lead off the seventh - in improving his season mark to 3-0. Paul Buboltz took the loss for Searles, yielding all three runs in seven innings of work. He fanned one and allowed six hits. Mike Grossmann pitched the final inning for Searles. Chad Hoffmann was the only player to get more than one hit, going 2-for-4 with the only extra base hit of the game, doubling in the seventh. The Brewers, who host Sleepy Eye Sunday night at 7:30, pushed two runs across in the second inning. Dave Kunz walked and John Enter was safe when Searles' leftfielder Dave Hatle dropped his sinking fly ball. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third before a Shane Kraus groundout to second plated Kunz for a 1-0 lead. Corey Schaefer walked prior to Jason Rewitzer working Buboltz to a 3-2 count before driving an RBI single to right for thatr 2-0 lead. That would be more than enough for Burt who controlled Searles' batters all night. He set down the first nine Searles batters in order before walking Mike Portner to lead off the fourth. He would allow only two other baserunners - one coming on a walk and the other on a hit batter - before Buboltz broke up Burt's no-hit bid with a single to center. New Ulm added an insurance run in the bottom of the third after two were out. Chris Peters and Todd Hoffmann drew consecutive walks and John Enter's single to left scored pinch-runner Bruce Jacobs.
