All-conference teams namedNEW ULM -- The South Central Conference named its all-conference baseball and softball teams recently. The New Ulm High School baseball team led the All-SCC squad with five selections -- seniors Scott O'Brien, Ryan Wellmann, and Alan Wurtzberger along with juniors Travis Thorson and Craig Spelbrink. Juniors T.J. Schmidtke and Aaron Wendt, along with sophomore T.J. Stallman, were selected from Blue Earth Area, and Fairmont is represented by senior Al Shaffer and junior Aaron Haycraft. Senior Derek Nau and junior Brett Olson were selected from St. James, with senior Jake Fredrickson and sophomore Tim Hoffman named to the team from St. Peter. Seniors Chad McDonough and Kenny Larson represented Waseca, and senior Dominic Schultz and junior Travis Wermedal were chosen from United South Central. All-SCC softballNew Ulm and Blue Earth Area each placed five players on the 2000 All-South Central Conference team released recently. For the Eagles, seniors Emily Hamann and Shelly Gramentz, and sophomores Allison Boddy, Meghan Reedy, and Cassie Schultz were named to the squad. BEA's contingent includes seniors Erin Haase, Janie Hanson, and Laura Verdoorn, junior Abby Velta, and sophomore Shannon Schonrock. Three were chosen from USC -- seniors Katie Johnson, Lindsey Hagen, and Chris Soma -- and Waseca's Kate Zika and Kari O'Brien, both seniors, and junior Sarah Korb were also named all-conference. Fairmont players selected include juniors Aja Walters and Teresa Kloeckner, with senior Jessi Strey and junior Lexi Davis representing St. Peter. Brittany Price, a senior, and Natalie Todnem, a junior, were selected from St. James. All-Tomahawk softballMcLeod West led with five selections to the 2000 Tomahawk Conference all-conference team. Representing the Falcons are seniors Abby Tongen and Becky Tongen, junior Samantha Kosek, and sophomores Steph Farenbaugh and Steph Todd. Wabasso, this year's Class 1A third-place team, had four members named -- seniors Holly Altermatt and Angela Schumacher, and juniors Annie Moore and Amanda Frank. Cathedral, Sleepy Eye, and Sleepy Eye St. Mary's each had three members named to the team. Seniors Laura Hazuka and Jenny Helget, along with sophomore Kristin Beranek, represent the Greyhounds. Seniors Jocelyn Helget and Stacy Hillesheim., along with junior Mel Braulick, were named from St. Mary's, and the Indians' contingent includes seniors Kristen Krebs, Pam Borth, and Kathryn Helget. Springfield/Cedar Mountain/Comfrey had a pair of players named to the squad -- juniors Kara Anderson and Sara Anderson. Honorable mention goes as follows: McLeod West -- senior Alissa Loncorich; Cathedral -- senior Andrea Haala, junior Dee Wilfahrt; Wabasso -- senior Tiffany Froelich, junior Julie Rohlik; St. Mary's -- seniors Kelly Trebesch and Nicole Schumacher, junior Nicole Steffl; SCMC -- senior Megan Baumann, juniors Jodi Poortvliet and Katie Savage; MVL -- freshman Jennie Burt.
