NEW ULM -- The St. James A's jumped to a 7-0 lead after 3 1/2 innings and topped the New Ulm Brewers 10-6 Sunday night in Tomahawk East League play.

Derek Lanoue was the winning pitcher for St. James, (4-8). He went the distance, striking out 11 and allowing eight hits.

Tyson Anderson was charged with the loss for Brewers (9-2) going four innings and allowing seven runs.

Brandon Olson banged out three hits for St. James. Tyler Kaus, Justin Kaus and Tyler Olson each collected two hits. Brandon Olson and Coby Kaus each drove in two runs.

Chris Peters and Landon Rathmann each had two hits for the Brewers who play at Redwood Falls Tuesday night. Rathmann drove in two runs.

St. James scored two runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Brandon Olson and Justin Kaus before adding five runs in the fourth inning to break open the game. John Branstad had a two-run single before an error. A Brandon Olson single and another error upped the lead to 7-0.

Meanwhile, Lanoue set down the first nine Brewers he faced -- four of them on strikeouts -- before the Brewers got the the right-hander for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Scott O'Brien was hit by a pitch, and Scott Schaefer walked. O'Brien scored on Chris Peters' base hit. Schaefer raced home on Tom Steinbach's double before Landon Rathmann collected two RBI with a double to cut the lead to 7-4.

However, the A's added three insurance runs in the top of the eighth inning off Chris Peters -- one of four pitchers use by the Brewers in the game.

After Peters retired the first two batters, Brandon Olson and Lanoue singled and a walk to Justin Kaus loaded the bases. Coby Kaus' single to center scored Olson and Lanoue for a 9-4 lead.

Tyler Olson base hit to right field brought in Justin Kaus for a 10-4 lead.

The Brewers staged a mini-rally in the bottom of the eighth inning when Scott Schaefer doubled, Peters reached on an error and Rathmann blooped a single to center to load the bases.

Lanoue fanned Tony Burt before Nate Carroll singled to right to score Schaefer and Peters.

Lanoue ended the inning with a strikeout with two runners still on base.
