NEW ULM -- Chris Peters, Scott Schaefer and Al Wurtzberger each connected for three hits to pace a 15-hit New Ulm attack to come away with an 11-4 win over Searles Tuesday night in a Tomahawk East League game. Peters' three hits were all doubles.

Tony Burt was the winning pitcher for New Ulm (13-2, 12-2), tossing five innings of shut-out ball while striking out three and allowing two hits. Scott O'Brien tossed three innings and Troy Kamm finished the ninth inning. O'Brien was charged with three runs while Kamm gave up the final run.

Paul Buboltz was the starting and losing pitcher for the Grizzlies, going five innings. He gave up seven runs on eight hits. Aaron Breu, Jason Rewitzer and Mike Portner all saw mound action.

Breu and Forstner each had two hits for the Grizzlies and both drove in two runs.

The Brewers, who are idle until they play at Springfield at 7:30 p.m. July 8, plated three runs off off Buboltz in the first inning.

O'Brien singled and went to third on a Troy Kamm double. Todd Hoffmann's ground out scored O'Brien with Kamm scoring on a throwing error on the play for a 2-0 lead. Peters collected the first of his three doubles and went to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a Scott Schaefer sacrifice fly.

New Ulm sent 10 men to the plate in the second inning to add four more runs to the Brewer lead.

A single by Evan Jacobs, a walk to Ryan Walters, coupled with a fielder's choice and a walk, loaded the bases for Hoffmann. Hoffmann then drove in his second run of the game with another sacrifice fly. Peters' second double of the game made it 5-0. Scott Schaefer's single drove in two more runs to increase lead to 7-0.

Meanwhile, Burt was in cruise control over the Grizzlie bats, setting down the first 11 hitters he faced before allowing a one-out, fourth-inning infield single to Pat Portner.

Searles mounted their biggest scoring chance against Burt in the fifth when Buboltz singled. Nick Seidl's ground ball forced Buboltz before Mike Grossmann singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. But Burt fanned both Ed Tietel and Casey Lux to end the inning.

A walk to Hoffmann by Breu to start the sixth started a two-run inning for the Brewers. Peters' third double moved Hoffmann to third for Scott Schaefer, who singled in Hoffmann for an 8-0 cushion. Corey Schaefer's line single to center plated Peters.

Singles by Scott Schaefer and Wurtzberger in the eighth inning, and a double by Corey Schaefer lifted the Brewers to an 11-0 lead.

But the Grizzlies finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning off Scott O'Brien to score three unearned runs. Mike Portner and Pat Portner reached on errors. Frank Forstner singled in one run and Breu doubled in two more to cut the lead to 11-3.

Searles pushed across a run in the ninth on a Forstner single.
