NEW ULM -- New Ulm Legion Blue coach Paul Buboltz may have said it best following Creighton Preps 11-1 win in five innings.

"There is not much to say."

Creighton Prep pounded out 13 hits while righthander Brad Kusek held New Ulm bats to only four hits as Prep ran their Upper Midwest Classic record to 3-0 with the win.

Tyler Mullen led the Prep attack with three hits and three RBI. Mark Wellwood, University of Minnesota bound Brian Bull, Jeff Daneff and Mike Harmelink all had two hits with Daneff driving in three runs.

Adam Prochniak had two of Blue's four hits in the game with John Knisley driving in the only New Ulm Blue run.

Nate Carroll took the pitching loss for New Ulm, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits in 2 1/3 innings of work. Derik Johnson relieved Carroll and permitted one hit and two walks in his appearance.

Creighton would plate three first inning runs off of Carroll when Todd Jansen walked and raced to third on a Mark Wellwood single. Wellwood swiped second and a the first of three singles by Tyler Mullen scored Jansen. Wellwood stole second before Brian Bull's sacrifice fly to deep center brought in Wellwood.

Jeff Daneff's slicing single to right scored Mullen.

After Creighton ended the top of the second with a 5-4-3 double play, the Nebraska state high school champions added four more runs in the second, all after two were out.

Mullen's infield single, a Bull base hit to right coupled with Daneff's two-run double to left increased the lead to 5-0.

RBI singles by Kelly Zach and Mike Harmelink upped the lead to 7-0.

Creighton, which was ranked between fourth to seventh in the country in high school baseball this year, added another four runs in the bottom of the third.

Jansen walked and Wellwood followed with a single. A wild pitch by Carroll moved both runners into scoring position for Mullen who delivered with a two-run single to center.

Pinch-hitter Eric Eymann who is headed to the University of Illinois next season as a shortstop, followed with a double which ended Carroll's day on the mound.

Derik Johnson took over and allowed a pinch-hit two run double by Jeff Grebenick for an 11- 0 lead. That would be the only hit permitted by Johnson.

Blue would crack the scoreboard in the top of the fifth when Joe Peters singled and scampered to third on Adam Prochniak's second single of the game. A fielder's choice allowed Peters to score before Creighton Prep ended the game with a double play.
