NEW ULM -- It was a game that the Kaiserhoff needed.

They entered Friday night's contest with Marshall carrying a four game losing streak. It was a game that they also needed for sectional seeding purposes.having gone 1-2 against Mankato (1-1) and Waseca (0-1) in Section 2B.

But it was not to be.

In a game that New Ulm committed a fundamental baserunning mistake and later was guilty of two errors -- both of which resulted in A's runs -- the Kaiserhoff dropped their fifth straight game to Marshall by a 4-3 score.

John Peterson got the win for Marshall (14-12) going eight innings and allowing three runs on seven hits.

Matt Johnson pitched the ninth for the save.

Cory Ranweiler took the loss for the Kaiserhoff, who will host Waseca Sunday night at 7:30 p.m., striking out 11.

Brady Ranweiler had half of the Kaiserhoff's eight hits, going 4-for-4. Josh Hinson and Landon Rathmann both tripled for New Ulm.

Joe Westpahl led Marshall, going 3-for-4 with a double and triple.

After Cory Ranweiler survived a two-out triple by Westpahl in the first inning by recording one of his 11 strikeouts in the game, New Ulm appeared to be ready to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning.

Josh Hinson led off with a single to center and reached second on a passed ball with no outs.

After Marshall starter John Peterson whiffed Lance Buck. Cory Ranweiler dribbled a slow roller to Peterson who turned and caught Hinson trying to go to third on the play.

That would hurt because the next batter, Brady Ranweiler rifled the first of his four hits in the game, singling to center.

Marshall would take a 1-0 lead in the second on one of two New Ulm errors - both of which played a part in Marshall's scoring.

Dave Tapper led off with a double and Cory Ranweiler hit Landon Erickson to put Marshall runners on first and second with no outs.

Mike Anderson slapped a groundball to shortstop Joey Schugel who fielded the ball while sliding but his throw to third went by Brian Davison at third and allowed Tapper to score.

But the Kaiserhoff would erase that lead with two runs of their own in the fourth.

Brady Ranweiler singled and scored on Landon Rathmann's triple to center. Rathmann then scored on Schugel's sacrifice fly to rightfield.

Marshall would regain the lead in their next at-bat,plating two runs after two were out.

Brendon Rokke singled and stole second. A Westpahl double on a 2-2 Ranweiler pitch scored him.

Matt Tiggas followed with the third straight hit of the inning, an RBI single to center.

The A's would up that lead to 4-2 in the top of the eighth when they loaded the bases on a fielder's choice, a walk and an infield single with one out.

Matt Suby then grounded to firstbaseman Brady Ranweiler whose throw to catcher Ryan Ortiz for the force out was there but Ortiz dropped the throw with a run scoring.

Josh Hinson's leadoff triple in the eighth and a Cory Ranweiler resulted in the Kaiserhoff's final run before Matt Johnson ended the game with the game-tying run on secondbase, getting Cory Ranweiler on a groundout.
