Sleepy Eye wins first meetSPRINGFIELD -- Sleepy Eye defeated Springfield 6-1 Tuesday in girls tennis action. At No. 1 singles, Sarah Ebberson defeated Ali Tews 6-1, 6-0. Allie Seifert defeated Emily Ellison 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Meghan Anderson defeated Jena Kaehler 6-1, 6-1 at third singles. At No. 4 singles, Sleepy Eye's Sandy Deible swept Mary Hauth 6-0, 6-0. In doubles action, Ann Roiger and Emily Carruthers got Springfields lone win with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Andrea Bruggeman and Sonni Sellner at first doubles. Cassie Jarvis and Katherina Busch won at No. 2 doubles over Amy Wellner and Christa Hagert 6-1, 6-7, 7-5. Kelleigh Trebesch and Jill Meyer won 6-4, 7-6 at No. 3 doubles over Katie Carruthers and Jessica Little for Sleepy Eye. Sleepy Eye (1-5) hosts Maple River at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday Ohm named GAC all-tourneyNEW ULM -- Martin Luther College senior outside hitter Melodi Ohm was named to the Gustavus Adolphus all-tournament team. Ohm led the Knights to a 1-3 record in the two-day event. MLC is currently 2-3 on the year.
MLBO downs Sprinfield in threeSPRINGFIELD -- Mountain Lake-Butterfield-Odin defeated Springfield 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 Monday in prep volleyball action. Abby Meine had 15 set assists for Springfield and Krystal Schwanke had five kills, six ace blocks and five ace tips. Nicole Pederson had 14 digs and Naomi Timm had 11 digs. Springfield (2-5-1) is at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Thursday.
BLH wins in fourHECTOR -- Monica Ashburn had 47 set assists as Buffalo Lake-Hector defeated BOLD Monday 25-20, 25-6, 19-25, 25-21 in prep volleyball action. Leah Burgstahler had 14 kills and two tips and Leah Ashburn had 26 kills. BLH hosts New Ulm Cathedral Thursday.
